About UsMember of Dachshund Club of America and National Miniature Dachshund Club of America. Also member of the Northern California dachshund club.Limited breeding program. Limited papers given on pets. The Dachshund Club Of America (DCA) Breed Standard Revision in 2006 DID NOT CHANGE ANYTHING in regards to the PIEBALD or the DOUBLE DAPPLE Pattern. Direct Quote From DCA Standard: “Color of Hair - Although base color is immaterial, certain patterns and basic colors predominate. DISQUALIFICATION: Knuckling over of front legs.” AKC Guidelines for Writing Breed Standards: "Color ... In breeds where multiple colors and color combinations are acceptable, but not all colors are permitted, the complete list of all colors and color combinations must be included in the standard." The DCA Standard does not list ALL acceptable colors and patterns thus they did not follow the guidelines set forth by AKC. It is also important to note that this guidance was issued by AKC after DCA's breed standard revision. RESULT: PIEBALDS & DOUBLE DAPPLES ARE STILL ALLOWED IN THE CONFORMATION RING! If you contact AKC they will tell you that the PIEBALDS are still allowed in the Conformation Ring and that YES THEY CAN BE AWARDED Conformation POINTS and complete their Championships. The Piebald and Double Dapple patterns are Faults but they are not disqualifications. |
